Laundry Detergent

Everybody has to wash their clothes.  There are so many different ideas about what is the best type of laundry detergent to use.  We have been making our own for awhile and it seems to work quite well.  We have tried a number of different recipes.  One day, I didn’t have any borax so I thought it was time to look for another recipe.  I found one from My Healthy Green Family that I really liked.  Today, Hannah and I would like to share that with you.

Try it for yourself.  I hope you will be just as pleased as we are.  You can even make your own washing soda from baking soda, but I will tell you about that in another post.

Gluten Free Fish Fry

How exciting is this!  Hannah and I had a great time as we tried a new Gluten Free batter to fry our fish.  This batter fried up incredibly and we loved it so much.  The 2 pounds of cod was quickly eaten for dinner.  After cooking the fish, we had some batter left and had fun frying different food items that we found.  We fried some bell pepper slices and enjoyed those.  We fried some almonds, but those weren’t our favorite.  You can use this batter for frying just about anything that you would like.  We actually ended up adding a little more water than what we used in the video and brought the water up to 1 cup.

Candy Bar in a Bowl

Candy Bar in a Bowl

It is easy to make a good tasting snack with 3 ingredients: peanuts, peanut butter and chocolate chips.  This is a great starting point, which leads to many different combinations.  We use peanuts because we have tons of peanuts at home, but almonds are also a popular choice.  You could really use any nut that sounds good to you.

Healthy Milk Alternative: Oat Milk

Oat Milk

In today’s episode, Keturah and I are busy making oat milk.  Oat milk is a great dairy free milk that we substitute in just about any of our baking or cooking.  One day, I was out of milk and went to the cupboard to see what I might be able to make milk with.  I found oats, but wanted to make see if there were other people who made oat milk.  I found others who had made it and tried my hand at it!  This is now our most often used milk for baking.

How to Clean a Vitamix

In today’s episode, Josiah and I get to demonstrate how to clean a vitamix.  Cleaning a vitamix is not like washing dishes.  It actually is easy and makes lots of noise.  For kids, lots of noise makes the task more fun.  You simply need some water and a couple drops of dish soap.  Never put your vitamix blender container or any of its parts into a dishwasher.  This can cause problems with the seal.  The recommended way of cleaning your vitamix is demonstrated in this episode.

  1. Fill Vitamix blender container about 1/2 full of water
  2. Squirt 2 or so drops of dish soap into the container
  3. Put your blender container lid on tightly
  4. Run your Vitamix for about 30 seconds
  5. Rinse your blender container and lid
  6. Allow the blender container to air dry

This task ...
